Afrika Safeguards Consult Ltd, a consultancy firm that provides services in environment and social safeguards management in Uganda, has today launched its website.  The website aims at creating awareness about the implementation of Environment and Social safeguards, including Environment and Social Management Plans (ESMP), Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Stakeholder Engagement Plans, among others.

According to the Managing Director, Ms. Scovia Nakawuma, environment and social safeguard management is a major concern for all development partners and a key factor in determining their support and contribution to poverty reduction.  “It is for this reason that Afrika Safeguards Consult Ltd was formed to partner with individuals, companies and institutions (private and public) to provide consultancy services that will support them to improve their environment and social performance.” She says.

The services include but are not limited to Independent processes monitoring of the implementation of Environment and Social safeguards through third party monitoring of the implementation of Environment and Social Management Plans (ESMP), Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), Stakeholder consultation and public disclosure processes, Grievance Redress Mechanisms and Functionality of safeguards management structures. 

Capacity Development and Training services will be offered to individuals and institutions to build their capacity in environment and social safeguards management, to optimize project benefits, manage risks and ensure the environmental, social soundness and sustainability of projects.

Forestry extension services will also be offered through support to clients with nursery establishment, plantation establishment and forest stand management.
